Credit Card

Essex Powerlines provides customers with an easy way to make payments by credit card online or by telephone. Credit card payments go through Paymentus. Paymentus charges a percentage of your cost as a service fee. Customers are responsible for this additional fee, as Essex Powerlines does not absorb these costs. Please note that Paymentus does not accept American Express.

Why is there a service fee?

Credit card companies charge businesses like Essex Powerlines a percentage of the payment for processing it. Most merchants embed this fee in their price of their product or service. Being a regulated utility, we do not include the processing fee in our approved rates and charges that we bill our customers. In order to be fair to all customers, we have to ensure that the users of the credit card service pay for the service. The service fee goes to Paymentus and no portion of this service fee goes to Essex Powerlines.

How do I pay by credit card over the phone?

If you are paying by credit card over the phone, you can call the toll free number at 1-877-811-8475.
