Essex Power Corporation Offers Bursary to High School Graduates that Pursue STEM or Power line Technician Programs

Essex Power Corporation (“EPC”) has announced a bursary program to be awarded to eight Grade 12 graduating students that plan to pursue post secondary education in the areas of study that support and build the foundation of our industry, for example, the Powerline Technician program and the many STEM programs offered through post-secondary schools.

2021 marks the inaugural year of the ‘Essex Power Corporation- Powering Future Leaders Award’, which will be given to one student from each of the 8 participating schools in the Town of Amherstburg, the Town of LaSalle, the Town of Tecumseh and the Municipality of Leamington. Students who receive the award will be given $500 to be used towards their education. The 2021 bursary winners have been chosen based on their exemplary work ethic in high school and their pursuance of a post-secondary program that supports and enables the Electricity Distribution Industry.

“The Essex Power Corporation Powering Future Leaders Award supports EPC’s philosophy and track record of supporting our youth, plus directly helps a potential future contributor to our industry…maybe our company! Congratulations to the recipients. We know your futures are bright!” John Avdoulos, President & CEO, Essex Power Corporation.

The bursary will be offered on an annual basis and winners will be chosen prior to their high school graduation.

“We are very thankful for Essex Power’s investment in our students’ future as they pursue their post secondary goals. Essex Power’s commitment to local youth and their education is commendable,” Jean-Marc Mongeau, Guidance Department Head, Sandwich Secondary School.

The Powering Future Leaders Award is another way that Essex Power supports the youth in its communities. In previous years, Essex Power has donated $40,000 to each of its shareholder municipalities through its Youth in Community Fund. To date, $320,000 has been donated to the youth in our communities through the fund. Essex Power looks forward to this new bursary program and helping power our future leaders!
