Powering Up Summer: Essex Powerlines Brings Electrical Safety to Local Day Camps

This summer, Essex Powerlines took electrical safety education into the community with visits to summer day camps across Amherstburg, LaSalle, Leamington and Tecumseh.

Through our Powering Up Summer initiative, campers had the opportunity to learn about electricity, how it reaches their homes and communities, and most importantly, how to stay safe around electrical equipment and powerlines.

The interactive visits gave campers a chance to meet members of the Essex Powerlines team and learn firsthand about the important work our lineworkers do every day. Campers explored a bucket truck, got an up-close look at the tools and safety equipment our crews use, and even had the opportunity to try on some lineworker gear.

Electrical safety was at the heart of each visit, with age-appropriate activities and conversations designed to help kids recognize electrical hazards and understand what to do to stay safe.

Thank you to the municipalities, camp staff and our Essex Powerlines team members who helped make our first summer camp program such a success.

We loved spending the summer connecting with young people across the communities we serve and look forward to more opportunities to educate, engage and give back.
