Health & Safety Policy
The Essex Power Group of Companies (EPG), which includes Essex Power Corporation (EPC) and all of its subsidiary companies, are committed to the physical and psychological health and safety of employees. It is our goal to design a distribution system that can be built, operated and maintained safely, considering primarily the health and safety of our employees, the customers we serve and the public in general. Essex Power is committed to the establishment, promotion, maintenance and continual improvement of a workplace psychological health and safety management system that is aligned with our organizational values and ethics and respects the principles of mutual respect, confidentiality and cooperation.
To support these goals, EPC will implement and document a recognized Heath and Safety Management System that will be communicated to all employees, be maintained in a current and up-to-date status and be readily available to all interested parties.
As the employer, EPC will make every effort to provide a physical and psychological healthy and safe work environment and provide suitable training and appropriate tools and equipment to enable the employees to perform their work in a safe and efficient manner. This includes a commitment by EPC to comply with all current and applicable legislative and regulatory requirements. All supervisors and workers must be dedicated to our objective of reducing the risk of injury and illness.
Supervisors shall be held accountable for the health and safety of employees under their supervision. Supervisors are responsible to ensure that vehicles, equipment and machinery are safe and that workers shall follow established safe work policies and procedures as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, Electrical & Utilities Safety Association (EUSA) Rule Book and Safe Practice Guides, EPC policies and procedures and other applicable legislation.
Workers will receive adequate training in their specific work task to protect their physical and psychological health and safety. In addition, workers must consider their responsibility to maintain a positive attitude with respect to physical and psychological health and safety matters and to promote and follow safe work practices at all times as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, Electrical & Utilities Safety Association (EUSA) Rule Book and Safe Practice Guides, EPC policies and procedures, and other applicable legislation.
Contractors will be expected to work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, Electrical & Utilities Safety Association Rulebook (EUSA) and Safe Practice Guides, EPC policies and procedures, and other applicable legislation.
It is in the best interest of all workplace parties to consider physical and psychological health and safety in every daily activity. A strong commitment to physical and psychological health and safety and continual improvement of the Health and Safety System must be primary and fundamental elements of EPC, embraced by all employees. EPC will review this policy yearly to ensure its continued accuracy.
