Power of Golf Fore Charity Tournament Raises $85,000 for Local Foundations

This year, the annual Electricity Distributors Association (EDA) Western District’s Power of Golf Fore Charity Tournament was co-hosted by and Essex Powerlines Corp. and ENWIN Utilities Ltd. The event raised $85,000 in support of two local organizations: Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation and Fight Like Mason Foundation. Funds will be split evenly, helping to provide essential care, equipment, research, and programs that directly aids families across Windsor-Essex.

“This tournament proves the power of community,” said Garry Rossi, President & CEO of ENWIN Utilities Ltd. “Thanks to the generosity of our partners, players and volunteers, we’re able to support organizations that make a real difference in people’s lives, right here at home.”

“The EDA Western District and the local hydro companies it represents are committed to helping the communities we serve,” said John Avdoulos, President & CEO of Essex Power Corp. “It is through their shared energy and generosity that we come together on the green to support our communities and make a significant impact, this is the power of local hydro.”

The golf tournament raised $82,500, and the evening reception added even more, bringing the total funds raised and donated to $85,000.

Since its inception in 2013, the tournament has now raised more than $645,000 for charities across Southwestern Ontario through registration fees and sponsorships.

The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation will direct funds toward advanced equipment, patient assistance programs, and cancer research through its Seeds4Hope initiative. The Fight Like Mason Foundation will continue its mission to support pediatric cancer patients and their families, while funding research and supplying specialized medical equipment.
